Janine Przysiezny, often called “Dr. P”, was raised in London, Ontario. She obtained her teaching and leadership skills first and foremost from her participation in the Royal Canadian Air Cadet League, as a licensed Glider Pilot Instructor, and obtaining the rank of Lieutenant prior to committing to civilian family life. She has a B. Eng (Aerospace) from Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario, and an M.D. from the University of Calgary in Calgary, Alberta. She was Chief Resident during her postgraduate Residency at Western University in London, Ontario and obtained Best Resident Continuing Medical Education Award and a Psychotherapy Teaching Award during her Residency.
Dr. P has worked closely with health care providers, emergency services personnel (paramedics, police, fire fighters), and military veterans for the past 5 years, beginning with her involvement as a consultant in the Rapid Response Service for frontline workers via the University of Toronto during the COVID-19 pandemic. She established a rapid response clinic for hospital staff at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital in St. Thomas, Ontario in 2021.
She has specialized in complex trauma since her Residency (1999-2005) and offers general consultation for a variety of illnesses including Mood, Anxiety, Dissociative, Somatic, Substance Use, Obsessive Compulsive Disorders and ADHD. She is a psychiatrist on staff at NuVista Mental Health / Archways Centre for CBT in London, Ontario, where she is pleased to work with Psychologists and Registered Psychotherapists in a team environment to enable citizens of Ontario and Nova Scotia to reach their best quality of life.
