Dr. Will Birman

Psy.D., C. Psych., Registered Psychologist

The experience of being human can be a great challenge in our current world despite the conventional wisdom offering oversimplified solutions. Instead of relying on inadequate shortcuts, psychotherapy aims to address deeper sources of distress and discomfort to provoke more lasting development, resiliency, and self-understanding.
In approaching therapeutic practice, I strive to create an environment of authentic meeting and emotional freedom for my clients. Through the mutual unfolding of the diverse elements that contribute to one’s subjective life, I encourage my clients to compassionately witness their experiences, and learn about their personal and relational patterns more openly. Through the dynamic cultivation of an interpersonal context of security, respect, trust, and honesty, I aim to support individuals in developing their abilities to authentically meet, bravely face, and gradually heal the unique conundrums and traumas affecting them – while at the same time acknowledging the broader social, cultural, and systemic conditions that surround their challenges.
