Shadi Mahmoodi

Psychotherapy Intern, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)(fluent in English and Persian (Farsi))

In therapy, I aim to provide you with a safe and comfortable space to explore your authenticity, emotions, and responses to life. I believe you are the expert of your life, and I approach our interactions with curiosity and compassion to support you as you navigate challenges and celebrate achievements.

My approach to therapy is rooted in cultural humility, evidence-based practices, and trauma-informed care. My goal is for you to feel seen, heard, and encouraged in our sessions. Exploring moments of vulnerability, building on your strengths, and addressing obstacles can be profoundly powerful. It would be a privilege to take these steps alongside you, delving into your stories and the richness of your experiences.

As a Psychotherapy Intern and and Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) pursuing her M.A. in Counseling Psychology, Shadi’s practice is influenced by her academic training, personal experiences, and over two years of volunteer work as a crisis responder at crisis centres and other community agencies. More Than Just My Work

I enjoy reading books, playing guitar, and exploring local coffee shops and different neighbourhoods in our city. I also love hanging out with friends and family and value connecting with them and sharing laughter and quality time.

“Sharing joy and sorrow, laughter and pain, wisdom and ideas with another person is at the heart of what it means to be human. The many moments of such connection in therapy deepen our own humanity” Pearlman and Saakvitne.(1995)
