Sukhi is a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. She has a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Boston University and specialised in group therapy in the urban setting. Sukhi has been practicing for over 27 years in the field of addictions and mental health. Sukhi values the importance of a holistic approach in working with individuals, couples and families from diverse backgrounds and offers an anti racist, anti oppressive framework that is culturally informed. Sukhi is South Asian and offers a cross cultural lens in working with diverse communities.
Sukhi believes in a collaborative approach to develop a trusting relationship in working with individuals, group therapy, couples and families and utilizes many aspects from many therapeutic modalities including CBT, DBT, solution focused, emotion focused, interpersonal therapy and family systems. Her main areas of interest include trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, self esteem and bereavement (support for families who are dealing with a loved ones death/passing). Sukhi has a passion for working with individuals in the helping professions and believes in the importance of self care as a priority to reduce burnout and compassion fatigue. Sukhi has offered professional supervision, mentorship for those new to the field and those wanting supervision outside their workplace.
Outside of work, Sukhi enjoys travelling, spending time with loved ones and believes in the importance of rest.
