Therapeutic Approach & Specialties
I take a client‑centred, compassionate approach, helping people explore their thoughts, emotions, and behaviours with clarity and without judgment. I draw on evidence‑based methods—including CBT, ACT, mindfulness‑based strategies, and practical psychoeducation—to support clients experiencing anxiety, emotional dysregulation, burnout, life transitions, and relationship strain.
As a Certified Sexual Addiction Professional (CSAP) through the CACCF, I also work with individuals and couples navigating compulsive sexual behaviours, problematic pornography use, intimacy challenges, and the relational impacts that follow.
My practice focuses on adults and couples, particularly those managing neurodivergence, chronic stress, communication difficulties, and complex interpersonal dynamics.
Professional & Academic Background
I earned my Master’s in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University after completing a two‑year Drug and Alcohol Counsellor program at Canadore College. I have been registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario since 2015.
My clinical career began in the Detoxification Unit in North Bay, followed by my role as an addiction counsellor at St. Joseph’s Treatment Centre. From 2001 to 2021, I worked with the Department of National Defence, providing mental health and addiction support to military members. Afterward, I spent three years at Cape Breton Regional Hospital before moving into my current role as a Registered Psychotherapist with NUVISTA.
Why They Chose This Work
I believe deeply in the power of human connection, empathy, and collaboration in the therapeutic process. I value open communication, respect, and meeting people where they are, tailoring treatment to each person’s unique needs rather than relying on a one‑size‑fits‑all approach. Supporting clients through meaningful change and helping them feel understood, grounded, and empowered is what continues to inspire my work every day.
Outside the Office
Outside of my clinical work, I stay connected to creativity and play. I’ve been passionate about music since the age of six, when I began learning piano—a practice I continued for 18 years and still draw joy from today. I also appreciate humour and stand‑up comedy, and I value the way laughter brings balance, perspective, and lightness into everyday life. Continuing to learn, stay curious, and nurture my own interests.
