Jennifer is a Masters level Social Worker with a clinical practice background working with individuals of across the lifespan. Her areas of experience working with varying mental health concerns include depression, anxiety, emotional dysregulation, anger management, parent and teen conflict, crisis response, grief, difficulties with interpersonal relationships, and adjustment disorder. Jennifer utilizes a number of therapeutic frameworks in her practice including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Strengths based theory, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), The Unified Protocol (UP), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) skills. Jennifer welcomes referrals from veterans and active military members.

Professional & Academic Background

Jennifer earned her Masters in Social Work with a Clinical Specialization in Mental Health and Health from The University of Toronto. She is registered with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers and participates in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices. Originally from Newfoundland, Jennifer moved to Nova Scotia after a number of years working in outpatient Mental Health services to then begin a career in Crisis Response services. Joining True North in 2019 on a part-time basis, Jennifer also works in the field of intimate partner violence.

She works from a trauma and violence informed lens and values strong therapeutic relationships, respect, autonomy, and individualized treatment to best meet the needs of her clients.

Outside the Office

When she isn’t working, Jennifer enjoys spending time with her husband and two dogs, practicing yoga, travelling, reading, and spending time outdoors.
