Therapeutic Approach & Specialties

In my clinical work, I draw from Narrative Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), DBT skills, mindfulness-based practices, somatic approaches, play therapy, and Gottman-Method informed interventions (level 1 & 2). I work with children, adolescents, and adults navigating behavioural challenges, anxiety, stress management, trauma, and life transitions. In my couples work, I support partners with communication difficulties, conflict cycles, emotional/physical disconnection, trust or attachment injuries, and rebuilding shared meaning.

Professional & Academic Background

Julia is a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). Her academic background includes studies in Psychology and Neuroscience, as well as a Master’s of Education in Developmental Psychology.

Over the past five years, she has worked across both research and applied settings, supporting youth, adults, and families with diverse needs related to Autism, ADHD, OCD, concurrent disorders, acquired brain injuries, genetic disorders, and transitional housing. She has facilitated developmentally appropriate interventions to help children and their families cope with medical procedures, illness, and hospitalization within healthcare environments such as St. Joseph’s Healthcare, McMaster Children’s Hospital, and SickKids Hospital.

Within her work, she brings knowledge of how cognitive, emotional, and psychosocial development intersect with mental health resilience and functioning especially in the context of disability. She applies this lens to guide compassionate and evidence-informed support across the lifespan.

Why They Chose This Work

When we learn to understand our patterns and reactions, we become both the student and the master of our lived experiences, creating more alignment with our higher selves. My approach emphasizes strengths-based practice, resilience-building, and community integration as core components of recovery and well-being, as I believe that an individual’s healing is part of a much larger ecosystem. I strive to meet every person with compassion, curiosity, patience, and respect for their unique story, centering their capacities rather than their limitations. My goal is to foster a safe, nurturing space where children and adults alike can feel more expansive in their healing and transformation. In our shared space, all parts of yourself all welcome.

Outside the Office

Some of the ways I find joy outside of my work include taking care of my physical and mental health (exercise, meditation, teaching yoga, trying new foods, exploring new places, discovering new music, being anywhere around water and animals (especially birds), continuing education, reading, family & friends).
