Therapeutic Approach & Specialties
Dr. Raha Hassan is a compassionate and collaborative psychologist supporting adults with OCD anxiety, depressed mood, and life stressors. She provides short-term evidence-based treatment with a focus on cognitive behavioural therapy. She also provides supervision to psychology trainees because she is passionate about training the next generation of clinical psychologists.
Professional & Academic Background
Dr. Hassan received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from McMaster University under the mentorship of Dr. Louis Schmidt where she conducted research related to understanding children’s social and emotional development. She completed her predoctoral residency at the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre where she worked with adults and youth struggling with anxiety, mood, OCD, and substance use disorders. She has been an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at Western University and the director of the Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEW) lab since completing her PhD in 2023.
Why They Chose This Work
Dr. Hassan spends the majority of her time in her role as an Assistant Professor in Psychology at Western University where she engages in research, teaching, supervision, and service. She believes strongly in the reciprocal relation between research and clinical practice and the unique relationship between clinician and client, so she continues to carry a small caseload of assessment and intervention cases.
Outside the Office
When Dr. Hassan is not conducting research or working with her clients, she is likely playing with her three cats, tending to her many plants, spending time with her friends and family, reading, or teaching herself a new craft.
