Therapeutic Approach & Specialties
I work with adults who are struggling with a variety of mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety, trauma and addiction. Together, we focus on what matters most to you. My approach is practical, compassionate and tailored to your goals, drawing from evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Prolonged Exposure and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy.
Professional & Academic Background
I earned a Master of Social Work degree in 2013 from the University of Western Ontario. I began my career working in a community mental health and addictions program in London where I gained valuable experience in supporting people who were facing complex mental health and addiction related challenges. In 2014, I returned home to Nova Scotia and worked for the Department of National Defence, where I expanded upon my skills and understanding of trauma-informed care. I joined the team at True North in 2019 and continue to provide services for active military members, in addition to Veterans and first responders.
Why They Chose This Work
I have always been curious about people – particularly how we think and how our experiences shape who we become. That curiosity has grown into a desire to better understand human behaviour and to support other people in making sense of their own stories. I chose this work because I believe that with the right support, insight and tools, people can create meaningful change in their lives.
Outside the Office
When I am not in session, you will find me spending time with my wife, chasing my two energetic boys and our dog, playing guitar, hitting the golf course, at the rink or just soaking up time on the water. It’s my way to recharge, laugh and stay grounded.
