What We Offer

Every therapist is trained in current, evidence-based approaches and carries a lower caseload, so you get focused, attentive care.

FINDING THE RIGHT FIT

NuVista Bridge may be a good fit if...

NuVista Bridge may be a good fit if you’re navigating everyday but real challenges — like stress, a life transition, or relationship concerns — and want accessible, affordable, one-on-one talk therapy. This service is likely not the right fit if you are:

  • Currently experiencing a mental health crisis or a recent suicide attempt
  • Living with an active addiction that needs specialized treatment
  • Seeking a diagnosis, assessment, or medication management
  • In need of court-mandated therapy
  • Looking for specialized eating-disorder or trauma-focused treatment

If any of this sounds like you, our team can help connect you with a referral to a provider better suited to your needs — reaching out is still the right first step.

FAQ

Answers to common questions about student therapists, and what to expect from care.

Do I need a referral to start?

No. You can book directly — no referral, doctor’s note, or proof of income required.

What is a "student therapist"?

A student therapist (also called an intern therapist) is a master’s-level graduate student in the final practicum of a Canadian graduate program. Each is vetted by NuVista and works under the close, direct supervision of an experienced, registered clinical supervisor.

Is this covered by insurance?

It depends on your plan. Coverage for sessions with a supervised student therapist varies between insurers, so we recommend checking directly with your provider before your first session. We’ll give you a receipt with the details your insurer needs to assess your claim.

Is therapy with a student therapist confidential?

Yes. Sessions are confidential among you, your therapist, and their supervisor. Supervision is part of your care, not an exception to it.

Are sessions virtual or in-person?

Both. Every therapist in the program offers virtual sessions, and many also offer in-person appointments in select locations. Each therapist’s profile shows what they offer, and our coordinator can help you find someone who works the way you’d like.

What if my needs fall outside the services offered through NuVista Bridge?

Our team will help connect you to a referral for a provider better suited to your needs — we won’t leave you without a next step.
