Rupa Ray is a Master of Social Work (MSW) graduate with a clinical specialization from the University of Calgary and a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW). She has over six years of experience supporting children, women, families, and diverse communities.

For more than four years, Rupa has worked as a Mental Health Therapist, providing support to clients experiencing complex trauma and PTSD, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), family and parenting challenges, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, and suicidal ideation. She is authorized to perform restricted psychosocial interventions, as well as conduct mental health assessments and diagnoses.

Rupa offers therapeutic counselling to children (6+), adolescents, youth, adults, older adults, families, couples, and groups. Her clients come from diverse backgrounds, including WCB (pain management), dialysis patients, first responders, BIPOC and 2SLGBTQIAP communities, and Indigenous clients. She provides therapy in person, virtually, and by telephone, and offers services in four languages: English, Bengali, Hindi, and Urdu.

She uses a range of therapeutic modalities based on client needs, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Advanced Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). She has significant experience delivering Advanced CBT and ART.
  3. Rupa works closely with Public Safety Personnel (PSPs) and First Responders, offering trauma-informed therapeutic support.

  5. As part of a University of Calgary research team, Rupa co-authored the article “Arts and Social Work: Applying Creative Methods in Research” published in Social Dialogue Magazine (January 2018).
  6. Rupa has worked extensively with dialysis patients living with severe depression, anxiety, and fear associated with kidney failure.
  7. She supports survivors of family violence using advanced Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) as a trauma-treatment modality and co-facilitates a weekly healing group for these clients.
