Val utilizes a relational approach to care. She believes in meeting her clients where they are at in their journey of growth and change. Some therapy modalities Val uses are cognitive-behavioural therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, psychodynamic, and person-centred. These approaches allow Val to support individuals struggling with emotional regulation, coping skills, social skills, relationship issues, anxiety, challenges with ADHD, and self-esteem.
Professional & Academic Background
Val is a Yorkville University graduate with a master’s degree in counselling psychology. During her graduate studies, Val completed a practicum at Toronto Neurofeedback and Psychotherapy Centre where she provided individual therapy to a wide range of clients. Val also possess an advanced diploma in child and youth care from Humber College. Val has volunteered as a helpline responder at Scarborough Distress Centre for over three years. Val’s clinical experiences include working with children, adolescents, and adults with varied abilities to enhance their social communication and emotional regulation capacities.

Val believes in assisting clients flourish in every aspect of their life through skill building, developing a better understanding of themselves, and through a strength-based approach. Val enjoys building a therapeutic relationship with her clients which allows for openness, connection, and support for clients to reach their goals.
Outside the Office
Val’s time spent outside the clinic involves going on hikes, baking, and swimming. She is a foodie who enjoys finding new restaurants and sampling a variety of cuisines!
