Therapeutic Approach & Specialties
Zainub Beg (she/her) is a Social Worker Candidate with a practice rooted in trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and culturally responsive care. She has specialized experience working with survivors of gender-based violence, drawing on both front-line fieldwork and clinical practice to support individuals navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, and life transitions.
Zainub integrates modalities such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and somatic approaches, including training in Complex Trauma (CCTP-II) and Somatic Experiencing, to help clients build self-awareness, reconnect with their inner strengths, and move toward healing in ways that feel safe and sustainable.
As a racialized practitioner, Zainub honours the importance of cultural identity in therapeutic work. She offers services in English, Urdu and Hindi and is passionate about making therapy accessible and relevant. Zainub also integrates creative expression into her therapeutic approach, exploring how art, storytelling, and cultural practices can support healing and self-discovery. She believes creativity can offer alternative ways to process trauma, especially when words are hard to find. She also brings a background in policy and systems advocacy, recognizing that personal healing and social change are deeply connected.
Professional & Academic Background
Zainub earned her Master’s in Social Work from Dalhousie University and her Master’s of Arts from Saint Mary’s University, both in Halifax, NS. She is registered with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers and continues to engage in professional development to stay current with best practices in trauma care and therapeutic interventions. Prior to joining True North Psychological Services, she gained frontline experience working in community and transitional housing for women and children experiencing domestic violence and/or homelessness as well as private practice settings and public policy.
Why They Chose This Work
Zainub chooses this work because she is committed to creating culturally grounded, trauma-informed spaces where people feel seen, heard, and supported. She is driven by a belief in compassionate, anti-oppressive care and the importance of meeting people with dignity and understanding.
Outside the Office
Outside of clinical work, Zainub enjoys fibre arts, especially crocheting and knitting, which help her slow down and stay grounded. She loves engaging with art and poetry and I’m happiest in nature or surrounded by animals. She believes in wellness and self-care in personal and professional life.
