Therapeutic Approach & Specialties

Benjamin takes a compassionate, client-centered, and goal-oriented approach to therapy, creating a supportive and non-judgmental space where clients can explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences. He tailors evidence-based treatment to each individual’s unique needs, drawing from approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), EMDR, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Brief Solution-Focused Therapy (BSFT), CBT for Insomnia, and mental performance consulting. Benjamin works with teens, adults, athletes, and high-performing individuals experiencing challenges related to ADHD, anxiety (including social and performance anxiety), depression, trauma, PTSD, grief and loss, self-esteem, relationship difficulties, behavioural addictions, stress and burnout, sleep concerns, life transitions, and interpersonal conflict. He is particularly passionate about helping clients navigate the pressures of high achievement, manage stress and burnout, build resilience and confidence, and create meaningful, lasting change so they can perform at their best while living more balanced and fulfilling lives.

Professional & Academic Background

Benjamin earned his Master’s in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. He is registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario and has been practicing as a therapist since 2021. Benjamin is also currently in the process of becoming a Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) and is an apprentice member of the Canadian Sport Psychology Association. Prior to joining NUVISTA, Benjamin gained experience working in community mental health programs throughout the Durham Region, including facilitating mental health support groups for individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorder through the COPE Program at Community Care Durham. He has also provided mental performance consulting for local competitive athletic teams, supporting athletes in strengthening resilience, confidence, and performance under pressure since 2018.

Why They Chose This Work

Benjamin chose this work because he is passionate about helping people navigate life’s challenges while recognizing that many individuals silently struggle under pressure, stress, and high expectations. He values creating a space where clients feel genuinely heard, supported, and understood, while helping them build the tools and confidence needed to create meaningful and lasting change. Benjamin finds it especially rewarding to support clients in strengthening resilience, improving emotional well-being, and reconnecting with the parts of life that matter most to them.

Outside the Office

When he’s not working, Benjamin enjoys supporting youth athletes through his work with the Academy of Student Athletic Development, reading philosophy, gaming, and spending quality time with his friends and family. He also has a strong passion for continuous learning and enjoys expanding his knowledge of the brain, psychology, mental performance, and human behaviour, both personally and professionally.
