Cameron Smith emphasizes a collaborative approach to therapy. Her theoretical background is eclectic, influenced by notions of attachment theory, and drawing from various modalities, including cognitive-behavioural (CBT) techniques, parts work (IFS) , and work that uses emotions (EFT) to track and deepen one’s understanding of themselves. Her goal is to best find tools and perspectives that suit her client’s needs and to create a safe, warm, and trauma informed environment for people seeking support. Through a working relationship, she intends to help clients find a deeper understanding of themselves and the world.
Her work also includes neurofeedback training, this is a modality that helps the brain to modify itself through real time feedback. Through her knowledge, experience, and mentorship, she works to understand each clients unique brain and ways in which to work toward improved functioning.
Professional & Academic Background
Cameron Smith received her Master’s of Education (MEd) in Counselling from the University of New Brunswick. She is a Licensed Counselling Therapist (LCT) in the Province of New Brunswick and a Certified Canadian Counsellor (CCC). She also has a certification in neurofeedback (BCN) through the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance.
Why They Chose This Work
Cameron has a passion for people and is driven to help other’s navigate through the good and the not so good moments in life. Her current clinical interests include, but are not limited to trauma/PTSD, anxiety, grief, interpersonal difficulties, and stress in adults and young adults.
Outside the Office
Cameron enjoys spending time with her family and friends, she spends her time walking her dog in the woods, traveling within Canada and beyond, and spending time with her friends over a cup of coffee. She is a curious learner who is always driven to grown and learn more.
