Therapeutic Approach & Specialties
Gorana is a trauma-informed therapist who helps individuals navigate difficult life experiences with compassion, insight, and evidence-based care. She is trained in several trauma-focused modalities, including EMDR, Written Exposure Therapy (WET), and the Flash Technique. Her integrative approach draws from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness-based practices, and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) to help clients process painful experiences, strengthen emotional regulation, and develop practical coping skills.
Gorana works with individuals experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, relationship challenges, and stress. She has particular experience supporting adults and teens, including veterans, first responders, and members of the military. Her work focuses on creating a safe, collaborative space where clients can deepen self-understanding, build resilience, and move toward meaningful and lasting change.
Professional & Academic Background
Gorana earned her Honours Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Windsor, Ontario, and subsequently completed her Master of Social Work (MSW) at the University of Windsor. She is a registered member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) and engages in ongoing professional development to remain current with best practices in trauma-informed care and evidence-based therapeutic interventions.
Prior to joining Nuvista, Gorana gained clinical experience working within a Family Health Team, providing virtual Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and in private practice settings serving diverse populations. Her work across these settings has supported individuals experiencing a range of mental health concerns, including trauma, anxiety, depression, and life transitions.
Why They Chose This Work
Gorana was drawn to this work through a deep appreciation for the complexity, resilience, and inherent worth of human beings. She believes that meaningful change in the world often begins with the courage individuals show when they turn inward, reflect on their experiences, and work toward growth and healing. Her goal as a therapist is to support clients in recognizing their own strength, resilience, and capacity for change.
Gorana strives to offer a compassionate and authentic therapeutic space where individuals feel genuinely seen, heard, and valued. She believes that the therapeutic relationship itself can be a powerful corrective experience—one where clients are met with empathy, respect, and human connection. Through this work, she hopes to help people develop greater self-understanding, reconnect with their inner resources, and recognize that by working on themselves, they also have the potential to positively impact the people and world around them.
Outside the Office
Outside of her clinical work, Gorana enjoys spending time with family and friends and values the connection and balance these relationships bring to her life. She loves reading and watching movies, and enjoys staying active by playing tennis. Whenever possible, she is happiest near the water and enjoys swimming and spending time outdoors.
