Jennifer is a Clinical Psychologist, with a Masters in Counselling Psychology. She has training in evidenced based approaches such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processibg Therapy (CPT), Mindfulness, Neurofeedback, Prolonged Exposure (PE), and EMDR. Her previous experience includes working within various settings that includes Non-Profit, Employee and Family Assistance, and private practice work where she has supported client populations that include WSIB (return to work), first responders, veterans and RCMP among others.

Professional & Academic Background

Jennifer earned her Masters of Counselling degree through Athabasca University and graduated in 2016. She is registered with The College of Paycholofists and Behavior Analyst of Ontario (CPBAO). Prior to joining NUVISTA, she completed a practicum, and subsequent work experience in Family Violence. She went on to gain significant experience using DBT to support emotion dysregulation for individuals experiencing complex, and developmental trauma and later acquired a special interest and focus in supporting veterans and first responders address, and heal from PTSD using evidence based methods. She has a special interest in returning individuals to a higher level of functioning and enhancing the areas of their life that make life worth living.

Jennifer believes the therapeutic relationship has a significant capacity to heal, and brings compassion and authenticity to her work with clients. She encourages open and honest feedback about what is, and isn’t working throughout the therapeutic process in order to help individuals meet their goals.

Outside the Office

When not working, Jennifer is probably running after her young son, doing laundry or picking up toys. In her free moments, she enjoys physical activity of any sort and trying out a new brunch spot. She is an avid consumer of podcasts and books related to hobbies and well being.
