Joanna has advanced training in cognitive-behaviour therapy (CBT) including exposure and response prevention (ERP) for OCD and comprehensive behaviour training (ComB) for body focussed repetitive behaviours (BFRBs). She choses therapeutic approaches that are considered evidence-based, meaning that they have been demonstrated through a scientific approach to be effective.

Professional & Academic Background

Joanna graduated (1999) from the Adler School of Professional Psychology (Chicago/Toronto) with a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology. She became registered with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario and immediately opened her solo practice (2007). Over the following years she founded and operated a reputable private clinic of psychologists and psychological associates (Archways Centre for CBT). Once her clinic partnered with NuVista Mental Health (2023) she shifted her full attention to providing clinical work in the areas of OCD and BFRBs.

Why They Chose This Work

Joanna recognizes the need for more clinicians to provide evidence-based therapies for OCD and related disorders. She has seen on numerous occasions clients who have been treated with ineffective types of therapies, that can worsen mental health problems. She is passionate about tailoring treatments to the individual, and helping them get better and stay better with CBT.

Outside the Office

In her spare time, Joanna enjoys the great outdoors with her family.
