Dr. Safnuk has been in private practice since 2006 and has provided assessment and evidence-based therapy for a wide range of psychological issues with a special focus in the treatment of Public Safety Personnel with PTSD/Operational Stress Injury. She has completed training in the areas of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness, Dialectical Behavior Therapy as well as specialized training for trauma including Prolonged Exposure, Cognitive Processing Therapy and ACT for trauma.
Professional & Academic Background
Dr. Safnuk completed her Ph.D. at the University of Saskatchewan in 2004. She is registered with the Saskatchewan College of Psychologists with Authorized Practice Endorsement (APE), which allows her to diagnose psychological disorders. She is a member of both the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) and the Psychological Association of Saskatchewan (PAS). She is an accredited service provider with WCB, SGI and Blue Cross as well as various provincial Employee and Family Assistance Programs.

Dr. Safnuk is motivated by a strong desire to help others and to support people through some of life’s most difficult challenges. She is especially interested in using evidence-based treatments to guide her practice, ensuring that the support she provides is grounded in research and tailored to helping individuals to better understand themselves and to build healthier and more fulfilling lives.
Outside the Office
When she is not working, Dr. Safnuk enjoys spending time with family and meandering around with her Basset Hound. She is a lifelong learner, an avid reader and spends as much time in nature as possible.
